Along the coast in El Saler, within the heart of the Albufera wetlands, stands what was once a five-star hotel to the stars. Once a gem to the city’s tourism market it now stands in defiance as an abandoned relic of what once was.
The Sidi Hotel was one of Spain’s oldest five-star hotels. With 276 rooms divided over six floors, it shut its welcoming doors after 35 years of hosting high flyers and top cats. Constructed in 1976 on over 19 thousand square metres of land, the Sidi hotel has hosted stars such as Sting, and the national football team of Northern Ireland during the 1982 World Cup Finals.
A window in time
The future of the Sidi is unsure, but what we do know is its dilapidated state provides a window in time. Therefore allowing us to experience the ruins of a luxury giant.
