New shopping and residential complex near La Fe, Malilla

A new complex incorporating shops, offices and residential apartments has been given the go-ahead by the Ayuntamiento. It aims for completion by the autumn of 2026. Eugene Costello reports…

The city council has green-lit an ambitious and expensive plan by developers. It is for an extensive complex in Fonteta de Sant Lluis, near La Fe Hospital. The council gave its approval on Monday of this week, July 22, said councillor for Urban Planning Juan Giner.

The cost of the investment is around €350 million, and the complex will cover an area of approximately 333,000 sq metres.

The complex will have 222 premises over four floors, from the semi-basement (as with Nuevo Centro in Campanar) to ground, first and second floors. More than 25 restaurant areas are in the plans, as are two car parking areas on the basement levels. These will provide parking spaces for 3,832 cars and 4,190 bicycles. This is in keeping with Valencia’s credentials as Green Capital of Europe and the council’s commitment to sustainability.

Developing the southern side of Valencia

The plan was first proposed in 2021, with the complex called Infinity. It will be near La Fe Hospital and the Turianova real estate development in the southern zone of Valencia, on the city side of the V30. The plans say there will also be. a wave pool and a climbing wall.

As well as the shops and restaurants, there are to be three separate buildings. One will be an 11-storey hotel and the second will be seven storeys for use as offices. The third building will be three floors and offer residential apartments and a floor area of 3,952 sq metres. This will grant a little easing on the constant demand for housing that has seen prices shoot up so much in the past three years or so. Whether it will be significant remains to be seen.

As part of the approval, the council insists that building must start within six months and must be completed within 24 months.
