International Nomad Summit for digital nomads in Alicante, Valencia

An international summit for digital nomads is to take place in Alicante from April 20th to 26th. Eugene Costello reports

An international summit for digital nomads is to take place in Alicante from April 20th to 26th. Alicante has the perfect conditions to become the next hub for digital nomads. Alicante came second in Forbes magazine’s list of best cities in the world for expats (just after Málaga and one spot ahead of Valencia, meaning Spain takes the three top spots). It was also designated the Spanish Capital of Gastronomy for 2025. All this means Alicante is, without a doubt, the place to be.

Alicante, a digital nomad hub

Alicante has a flourishing digital community that is already well-connected. More than 2,800 digital nomads have moved to Alicante in recent years. A third of these have met regularly through the app Nomadway (see our previous post). The app has successfully created meaningful connections, virtually and in real life. This made their founders Jean-Baptiste Michel and Maria Cuesta envision something bigger for this year. An event that will allow digital nomads to experience Alicante firsthand, immersing themselves in the city’s lifestyle, culture and scenic beauty. But what can digital nomads expect from the Alicante Nomad Summit? The event will be focused on sustainability and the future of work.

With more than 30 speakers confirmed at this point, the summit, taking place for the second time in April 2026, brings a fresh perspective to the digital nomad lifestyle. It will shed light and start discussions on the trending and future-oriented topics of innovation, sustainable lifestyle and meaningful connections. Over the course of two days, attendees will be able to take part in inspiring talks, where they will discuss the future of work, while at the same time connecting with others through networking activities. The event features a diverse lineup of seasoned speakers offering expert insights into their respective fields. It aims to challenge participants to rethink how to optimise their digital nomad journey. With its blend of social activities and thought-provoking discussions, the summit promises to be a must-attend gathering for the global nomad community in 2025.

The Alicante digital nomad team

To bring the event to life, Jean-Baptiste and Maria joined forces with three remote work specialists they met during a coworking session. Together, they assembled a dynamic, international team.

Jean-Baptiste Michel, co-founder and speaker at the event

Emilya Strahilova, a content strategy expert hailing from Bulgaria. Emilya fell in love with Alicante thanks to an initiative called ‘The Break’, an international scholarship programme designed for female entrepreneurs living in the European Union.

Alongside Maria, who is Valenciana, and Jean-Baptiste, originally from France, the group embodies the diversity and global nature of the digital nomad lifestyle. The team’s personal experiences with remote work have given them a deep understanding of both its challenges and its unique opportunities. They have developed a remote family, creating work opportunities and building friendships within the community. With the event, they want to expand that family and invite digital nomads from other parts of the world to explore Alicante as a digital nomad hub.
