Craving the Tex-Mex flavours of home, our Virginian friend Colin Duncan has fallen in love with Burritos… it has become his go-to burrito provider while here
One of the better and healthier fast food options is the Valencian equivalent of Chipotle in the US, called simply Burritos. Since Gabriel Lugo founded the first Burritos in Valencia in 2019 they have served the
most authentic Tex-Mex food in the Valencia area, influenced by Venezuelan flavour.
After only being open for business for a couple of months, the Burritos family opened their second
restaurant in the city of Barcelona on Ronda San Pere with the goal of “reaching the world”.
They were welcomed with open arms by the residents of Barcelona and have continued their
success to this day. Towards the beginning of 2020, Burritos opened its second restaurant in
Valencia, near the City of Arts and Sciences. The following year in 2021, they opened their
fourth store, the third in Valencia, right in the city centre.
Best Tex-Mex food in Spain
At the end of that year, they were able to open their fifth restaurant in Madrid. The newest and sixth restaurant added to the Burritos chain was opened in the Rambla de Poble Nou area of Barcelona. The company has announced that in June, the seventh restaurant will be opened in Valencia right near Plaza de la Reina. Through this whole process, there have been more than 4,000 reviews that
claim that Burritos is the best Tex-Mex food in Spain.
Their founder, Gabriel Lugo, who has 20 years of hospitality experience wanted to
create a unique and fresh food concept. He wanted his restaurants to portray Mexican food
prepared every day just like it was homemade where the “quality, variety, and freshness are the
basis of the service.” Through his experience in the hospitality sector, Gabriel believes that his
secret to success comes through his staff. Every staff member is dedicated to producing the
highest form of customer service and through them, the great quality of their dishes is brought to
the plates of hungry customers.
Variety is the spice of life
Burritos offers many different types of Tex-Mex cuisine and has something that anybody
can enjoy. They serve eight different burritos with either chicken, carnitas (pulled pork), vegetables,
shredded beef, vegan Heura Nuggets, and you can also create your own. They have a build-
your-own bowl option as well as a salad option where you can put anything that they have
available on it.
But what is Tex-Mex without tacos? Two 15-centimetre corn or wheat tortillas are
available with the ingredients of your choice. They also have regular-sized quesadillas (30-
centimetre tortillas) and mini quesadillas (15-centimetre tortillas) which can be accompanied by
whichever toppings you prefer.
You won’t want to miss out on the enchiladas or the fajitas either. For sides or a starter, you can purchase nachos, tequeños, or chips (with or without guacamole). There are various sodas, iced tea, flavoured water, beer (in a glass or from a keg), and frozen margaritas.
With all of these options, it can be difficult to narrow down what to order. But once you take your first bite, you’ll want to come back the very next day to get everything on the menu.
If you’re looking for authentic Tex-Mex cuisine, look no further than Burritos…
