The total number of people killed in the October flooding in Valencia has risen to 219. Rescue teams found the body of the former General Director of EDEM Business School, Antonio Noblejas on Sunday afternoon. Civil Guard sources confirmed the find.
Noblejas, 76, had been returning from a lunch in Chiva with three other well-known Valencian businessmen. This happened on the 29th when the DANA struck. The other entrepreneurs, whose bodies were located last week, were Jose Luís Marín, owner of Colegios Siglo XXI, which runs the Mas Camarena schools group, Vicente Tarancón, owner of the sports brand Luanvi, providers of the kit for Valencia Basket and sponsors of Valencia’s Half Marathon, and Miguel Burdeos Baño, founder of the company SPB, which employs around 500 people and provides Mercadona with Deliplus and Bosque Verde products.
The latest victim, Noblejas, was found close to the Barranco del Poyo, where it passes through Riba-roja, by the Reserve and Security Group, with help from the Special Intervention Mountain Rescue Group.
There are still a further 13 people missing in Valencia following the devastating flooding in the towns south of the city, according to the latest figures from the Data Integration Centre. In total 227 people lost their lives in the unprecedented weather of the DANA on 29 October, which includes seven killed in Castilla-La Mancha and one in Andalucía.
